A Walk Around Los Cristianos, Aguamar and a Proper British Pie

Ladles and jelly spoons rolled — morning walk in Los Cristianos led to a proper British pie at Delicious!

A Thursday Morning in Tenerife

Ladles and jelly spoons, today we’re heading out for a morning walk around Los Cristianos, with a very important appointment at the end — a proper British pie!

The idea came from Marie, who asked me to show the area around the Aguamar apartments. And since it was her son Matty’s 30th birthday, it seemed like the perfect excuse to head over there and have a wander.

We started at the Los Cristianos bus station, where I showed everyone some of the local transport facilities, including the buses to Santa Cruz and Tenerife South Airport.

Then it was time to explore.

Exploring the Area Around Aguamar

Rather than taking the shortest route, I decided to show a bit more of the neighbourhood.

We walked past familiar places, including The Sands, Buddy’s Bar, The Fox, Treasure Chinese restaurant and Tides fish and chip shop.

It’s an interesting part of Los Cristianos because there’s quite a mixture of holiday accommodation, local businesses, bars and restaurants, all within walking distance of the bus station.

I also pointed out some of the routes between the different hotels and apartment complexes, which might be useful if you’re staying in the area.

Eventually we reached Aguamar, and I was able to show Marie and the other viewers what the surroundings looked like.

Mission accomplished!

Back to Delicious for a Pie

Of course, there was a second part to today’s adventure.

Before the broadcast I’d called in at Delicious, near the bus station, and asked them to save me a minced beef and onion pie.

So after completing our walk, I headed back to the café.

But I couldn’t resist having something to eat while I was there.

First came a Cornish pasty and a café con leche. Then I decided to try one of their pork pies as well.

The pork pie looked rather good, with a finely textured filling, and we had a look at the other things on the menu, including their Ploughman’s lunch and homemade Scotch eggs.

Many of the individual pies were priced at €4, while the cheese and onion slice was €3.50 at the time of our visit.

And yes, I took some pies home too!

Who Ate All the Pies?

The live chat thoroughly enjoyed the food theme.

There were discussions about steak pies, chicken and mushroom pies, meat and potato pies, Cornish pasties and traditional pie and mash.

Some viewers were making themselves hungry just watching.

Slurpy Dave joined in with a collection of wonderfully terrible jokes, including several involving pies, fillings and potatoes.

It was exactly the sort of cheerful nonsense that makes these live mornings enjoyable.

The Missing Phone Adventure

We also revisited the story of my missing phone.

During an earlier walk I’d left my phone behind on a bench. Thanks to Google’s location tracking, the viewers and Craig were able to help me work out where it had gone.

Craig called the phone, spoke to the person who answered, and helped arrange for me to recover it.

Thankfully, everything ended well, and I got the phone back.

The viewers have been reminding me to check my pockets ever since!

A Few Other Conversations

As always, we wandered into other subjects.

We talked about favourite restaurants and fish and chip shops around Los Cristianos, the rising cost of things, YouTube, editing software, and some of the technology I use to create the broadcasts.

I also discussed the football graphics I’ve been developing for Webby and Simon, using ChatGPT and Kling AI.

And there were plenty of questions about future walks, visiting Tenerife and places people would like to see on the channel.

Thanks for Joining Me

What started as a simple walk around Aguamar turned into a lovely morning of exploring, chatting, eating and laughing.

That’s what I enjoy about these broadcasts. We might have a destination in mind, but there’s always something unexpected around the corner.

A big thank you to everybody who joined the live chat, sent questions, shared stories and helped make the morning entertaining.

And if you’re in Los Cristianos and fancy a pie, you now know somewhere worth looking at.

See you on the next walk. Wouldn’t want to be ya!
