DegustaMe, runs through November, featuring around thirty culinary and leisure activities, along with tours and workshops for all ages
Adeje Town Hall’s Department of Economic Development presented the 15th ‘Degústame’ foodie event this Wednesday, an initiative designed to bring local gastronomy closer to the community. The event’s extensive programme of activities will run for a month, concluding on November 30.
During the presentation, councillor for the promotion of economic activity and employment Mercedes Vargas Delgado, emphasised that “this initiative has become the flagship event in the south of the island for showcasing Adeje’s gastronomic sector and stimulating economic activity in the municipality.”
The presentation was also attended by the economic councillor Alberto Álvarez Jiménez; Pablo Pastor, president of ACYRE Canarias (Association of Chefs and Pastry Chefs of the Canary Islands), Jordi Esplugas, president of the Adeje Business Association, Trinidad Fumero, from Abona Wines and Claire Lázaro, representing the Tenerife Bartenders Association.
“We invite the people of Adeje and visitors to come and enjoy the 15th edition of ‘Degústame,’” said councillor Alberto Álvarez, who commented on the work of the Town Hall, in collaboration with local businesses, in creating the gastronomy programme for November.
The first activities will begin on Tuesday, November 5, with a week featuring culinary competitions, workshops, and a tour of the Montesdeoca cheese factory, winner of national and international awards annually.
On Wednesday, November 6, the “First National Vieja Fish and Artisanal Fishing Competition” will take place as part of the 2nd Sustainable Proteins Gastroforum. Organised by ACYRE Canarias, the event will celebrate Tenerife’s culinary richness with a special focus on the ‘vieja, a local fish.
“With this particular initiative Adeje is showing its commitment to the fishing sector at a time when artisanal fishing fleets face numerous global challenges, helping highlight the importance of fishing within the framework of food sovereignty,” stated councillor Alberto Álvarez Jiménez.
All these events will be conducted through Spanish.

Additionally, on November 8, one of the most eagerly awaited and major commercial and culinary events, the Tapas Route, will begin, running until November 17. This invites participants to sample the culinary delights offered by the different restaurants, bars, and cafes participating in the campaign.
Food trucks will also be part of the gastronomy programme, providing a range of cuisine in Salytien Plaza from November 15 to 16, along with live entertainment.
This year there will also be family cooking events and activities, hands-on experiences for families to enjoy and learn new cooking techniques through a variety of recipes.
On November 19, there will be a workshop at the Costa Adeje Centre for Tourism Development (CDTCA) for those interested in learning the art of preserving tuna, sardines, and mackerel, a tradition with deep roots in Tenerife, with a second session on November 26.
On Friday, November 22, there will be a free Japanese cocktail-making course, organised by the Tenerife Bartenders Association (ATB) and available upon prior registration. The course will last two hours.
Finally, the month-long programme will come to an end on Saturday, November 30, on Calle Grande and Plaza España, with a special edition of ‘Degústame Adeje’ starting at 4:00 p.m. and continuing past midnight.
