Adeje Farmers Market launches a new website, expands its product range and simplifies the registration process

The Town Hall is making a qualitative leap forward in this service, with the aim of supporting the primary sector and promoting the consumption of zero-kilometre products, and reducing its carbon footprint
The Adeje Farmers Market is entering a new phase after 16 years in operation, with significant new developments including the addition of fresh meat and seafood to its usual offering, a simplified registration process for producers, and the launch of a new website
“This is a real qualitative step forward. Our goal is to support the primary sector while encouraging the consumption of zero-kilometre products,” said councillor for economic development, Alberto Álvarez Jiménez.
The inclusion of fish and meat products represents a major expansion of the market’s offer, which until now has mainly consisted of agricultural goods, alongside dairy, bakery, wine and some pre-packaged meat products. The town hall is currently working to prepare a dedicated area within the facilities for the sale of seafood, ensuring all necessary health and logistical conditions are met for correct preservation and sales.

To enable this qualitative leap, the Town Hall had to draft a new municipal ordinance, which was officially approved at a council meeting on 6 September 2024 and published in the Official Bulletin of the Province on 23 September. This new regulatory framework also introduces a more flexible and simplified registration process for participation in the market. From now on, applications can be submitted at any time of the year, with no specific deadline, allowing for easier and more continuous access.
Alberto Álvarez added, “Alongside streamlining the authorisation process, we are also developing new ways to boost sales, including communication campaigns, bringing the Adeje Farmers Market to different parts of the borough on Wednesdays, launching the new website, and continuing to promote the market on social media,” he explained.
The launch of a dedicated Adeje Farmers Market website is another of the major innovations, offering detailed information about participating producers, available products, and the campaigns and activities taking place at the venue. The online platform will make it easier to manage participation authorisations and is expected to become a key tool in promoting local produce to residents and the service sector, particularly the hospitality and restaurant industries. As part of the communication campaign, the slogan ‘Lo bonito de cultivar’ (‘The goodness is in the growing’) will be revived. Originally launched a few years ago, it highlights the quality of the product, its local origin, zero-kilometre products, and the positive emotions experienced both by the producers and those who enjoy fresh food.
