Public fire prevention day, Monday, CDTCA

Adeje to host a full day of activities on Monday 19th May as part of Fire Prevention Week 2025

The event will take place at the Costa Adeje Tourism Development Centre from 10am to 6pm

This coming Monday, 19th May, the Costa Adeje Tourism Development Centre (CDTCA) will host a full day of activities as part of the 20th edition of Fire Prevention Week. The initiative is organised by the MAPFRE Foundation, the Tenerife Fire Consortium and the Professional Association of Fire Technicians (APTB), with the collaboration of Adeje Town Hall.

Mercedes Vargas Delgado, councillor for security, commented that these kinds of activities “help us share key knowledge with the public, from an early age, to prevent incidents at home and to know how to react in emergency situations.” She added that “prevention is a fundamental tool in everyday safety, and these workshops offer a direct and accessible way of promoting it.”

The programme will run from 10am to 6pm and is designed for both schoolchildren and the wider public. In the morning, participating pupils will be able to explore MAPFRE Foundation’s smoke simulation house, attend a talk on fire safety at home, view emergency service vehicles and equipment, and take part in hands-on workshops on first aid and fire extinguishing techniques.

At 12 noon, a specific workshop on how to use fire extinguishers and fire blankets will be open to the general public. This activity will also be repeated in the afternoon. From 4pm to 6pm, attendees will have the chance to familiarise themselves with emergency response tools, take part in simulated emergency scenarios, and attend a home fire safety talk with guidance on smoke detectors, fire blankets and household extinguishers.
