Adeje Bursts Into Christmas Colour With 15,000 Poinsettias Across the Municipality

Adeje Town Hall has begun transforming streets, gardens and public spaces with more than 15,000 poinsettias, creating a festive floral display that complements Christmas lighting, decorations and music throughout the town.

Adeje Town Hall has dressed the municipality in Christmas colours with the planting of more than 15,000 poinsettias, marking the start of this year’s festive themed gardening campaign.

Since Tuesday, 9 December, gardens, roundabouts and public spaces across Adeje have been displaying the first plants of what is an extensive floral installation organised by the Municipal Services Company (EMSA). Over the coming days, gardening teams will complete the distribution of the poinsettias, representing a 25% increase compared to last year.

According to the councillor for Works, Municipal Services and Good Governance, Epifanio Díaz Hernández, the objective of this year’s campaign is to further enhance public spaces throughout the municipality.

“The increase in the number of plants responds to the need to ensure the presence of Christmas in every area of Adeje, with particular attention to access points, parks and high-traffic locations,” he explained.

The planting programme includes green areas, main access routes and emblematic locations, following a detailed plan prepared by EMSA in recent days. This has also involved prior ground preparation to ensure the plants remain in good condition throughout the festive period.

The poinsettia display complements the special Christmas lighting, decorative elements installed across the municipality, and the background music that accompanies the arrival of the festive season in Adeje.

Adeje Town Hall has also taken the opportunity to remind residents and visitors of the importance of civic and respectful behaviour. The poinsettias form part of the collective Christmas decoration and should not be removed or damaged, allowing everyone to enjoy them in perfect condition throughout the holidays.

This action forms part of Adeje’s municipal plan for themed gardening, linked to seasons and significant dates. The strategy incorporates sustainability criteria, efficient use of resources, and the selection of plant species well suited to the local climate.

Through these initiatives, Adeje Town Hall continues to enhance the image of the municipality with an approach that is environmentally responsible and consistent with Adeje’s visual identity all year round.
