Adeje is co-operating in spreading the message regarding this mobile phone simulated drill on October 24th. It will be received by all phones, whether they belong to residents or tourists, so it is important that visitors don’t think there is a genuine emergency. I am also attaching a short radio ad in English which can be used freely.
On Thursday, 24th October, the Canary Islands regional government will conduct an EMERGENCY DRILL throughout the island of Tenerife.
Between 10am and 12 noon you will hear a loud ALARM on your MOBILE PHONE, and you will receive a WARNING MESSAGE.
Don’t be worried.
This is just a DRILL, a simulation. You don’t need to do anything except tap the screen of your mobile to stop the sound.
IF YOU ARE DRIVING
Stay calm and don’t do anything that could put you or other drivers at risk
Avoid sudden braking or abrupt lane-changing
IF YOU ARE CARING FOR AN ELDERLY PERSON
The important thing is to stay calm and follow the instructions and advice that you will receive over the phone
