Adeje Town Hall and Sinpromi on the municipal Accessibility Plan

Adeje Town Hall is developing a new Accessibility Plan with Sinpromi, focusing first on beaches, then urban centres and tourist areas. The project aims to identify shortcomings, propose solutions, and ensure inclusive, safe, and comfortable spaces for both residents and visitors.

Adeje Plans New Accessibility Measures

Adeje Town Hall’s Department of Mobility recently met with Sinpromi (Island Society for the Promotion of People with Disabilities) to discuss proposals for the upcoming Municipal Accessibility Plan. The meeting took place at the Costa Adeje Tourism Development Centre (CDTCA) and included councillors, municipal staff, and accessibility experts.

Building an Inclusive Adeje

Councillor for Mobility Mercedes Vargas Delgado said Adeje is taking firm steps toward becoming a more inclusive and safer municipality. The plan will identify shortcomings, propose solutions, and improve quality of life for both residents and visitors. She noted that accessibility issues are especially relevant on the beaches.

Three Main Areas of Action

The work will be divided into three blocks:

  1. Beaches – Troya I, Troya II, and El Bobo.
  2. Urban Centres
  • Phase one: El Galeón, Las Nieves, Los Olivos, Las Torres.
  • Phase two: La Postura, La Caleta with La Enramada, San Sebastián, Playa Paraíso, Callao Salvaje.
  1. Town Centre and Tourist Zone – Adeje centre and surrounding tourist areas.

Accessibility and Tourism

Councillor for Tourism Patricia Paulsen Fölling stressed that a competitive tourist destination must guarantee accessibility in both public and private spaces.

Next Steps

  • Sinpromi will submit tailored proposals for each department (Beaches, Mobility, Tourism).
  • Technical support will be offered to ensure ongoing construction projects include universal accessibility criteria.
  • Adeje is considering the Stella project, which promotes accessible pedestrian routes as a model for other urban spaces.
