Costa Adeje is adding something brand new to the December calendar — and it looks like it’s going to be a good one.
From the 5th to the 7th of December, right across the Constitution Day bank holiday, the Plaza de Salytien will host the very first Blue Market, a fresh initiative designed to bring contemporary, locally-made products closer to both tourists and residents. It runs from 5pm to 11pm, so expect that lovely Costa Adeje evening atmosphere: lights on, sea breeze, and people drifting through the stalls.

The event is organised by Adeje Town Hall’s Department of Tourism Destination and Sustainability, Innovation and Modernisation — quite a mouthful, but they’re the ones driving these forward-thinking, community-focused projects. More than thirty local artists and makers from across Tenerife will be taking part.

Councillor Patricia Paulsen Fölling explains that Blue Market was created to support local commerce and showcase products with identity, tradition and creativity. In her words, Costa Adeje’s commercial offer needs to be on the same level as its other strengths — the climate, the environment, the sports facilities, the hotels and the gastronomy. Blue Market is meant to complement that and add a new layer of authentic local flavour.
Over the three days, the square will transform into a free open-air meeting point featuring crafts, fashion and food created in workshops and studios around the island. It’s very much in line with Adeje’s ongoing push to support small local businesses and encourage more conscious, territory-based consumption. A little less mass-produced, a little more Made-in-Tenerife.

Project director Cristina Hernández — also behind Le Good Market — highlights how Tenerife has seen a real explosion of small local brands in recent years. Social media and events like Blue Market give these emerging creators a platform, and institutional backing is a key part of letting them grow.
The goal is for Blue Market to become a regular pre-Christmas event here in Costa Adeje. Think good design, crafts, flavours of the island, some live music, and the sea right there in the background. Whether you go with family, with friends or hand-in-hand on a little date night, it’s shaping up to be one of those “why haven’t we always had this?” kind of events.
