Live from Puerto Colón: Coffee, Cameras, and Connection Issues

Tim takes us on a live walk through Puerto Colón with tech tests, coffee stops, and plenty of laughs — despite some streaming hiccups. Meet locals, explore the coast, and hear the story behind Bar 185!

Hello, friends! It’s Tim Dowd here from Living With MS in Tenerife. Today, I went live from sunny Puerto Colón. I wanted to test a few things, enjoy the views, and grab a coffee. But as always, real life had other plans. Here’s how it went…

The Start: Technical Glitches and Live Shenanigans

We kicked off with a small panic — were the comments turned off? Was the stream working? I wasn’t sure at first. But soon, the camera settled, the mic behaved, and we were up and running.

The location? Beautiful Puerto Colón. I usually walk one way, but today I took the other route. Just for a change. I tested dual cameras and even tried to stay out of the sun. That gear gets heavy!

Testing New Tools: StreamAlive and More

I tested a new feature called StreamAlive. It lets viewers type where they’re watching from. The first 10 people get tracked on a live map. Great idea, right?

But… it didn’t go smoothly.

The map didn’t load in time. I couldn’t show it on-screen fast enough. I promised to add it to my website later. Still, we had some fun seeing places like Kent Gardens, Droyalston, and Cashel pop up.

I also tried to check internet speed, switch layouts, and manage two devices. All while walking and talking!

Meeting Viewers and Locals Along the Way

As I walked, I met a few lovely people. Some knew the channel. Others were curious about YouTube. I gave advice to a local named Ronnie who wants to start his own channel. Good sound is key, I told him!

I also stopped at Bar 185, run by a friendly guy named Mally. Great coffee, biscuit on the side, and a bit of shade. Just what I needed after all the tech trials.

The Real Test: The Internet

Puerto Colón’s signal wasn’t great today. We dropped lots of frames. The stream kept freezing and buffering. It got worse near the Unique Bar. I plan to get a second SIM and test bonding. Hopefully, that will help future livestreams.

Even with the glitches, many viewers stayed. Thank you all! You are legends.

In summary:
✅ Tried new software
☕ Had great coffee
📶 Battled poor signal
